Nastus Elatus
"New Guinea Edible Bamboo"
I am a relatively rare, fine-leafed
medium sized bamboo that will grace any garden with my fine stature. I have been called the Weeping Willow of bamboos, because my drooping, pendulus tips often arc all the way to the ground! In optium conditions, I can reach 50 feet
and my culms are relatively narrow, about 2 inches, and thin walled. Perhaps the most desirable feature of my species is that my shoots are so good to eat that they can be eaten raw!
I am not very happy if you keep my feet wet or confine me to a container.
