Gigantochloa Apus

I am native to Java, where my exceptionally strong culms are used for roof rafters as whole culms and woven when split. My culms taper very little, making me desirable for many uses where long, high-strength bamboo is needed.

I love full sun, and will grow to 65 feet in height with 4 inch culms. I am relatively cold-hardy, surviving temperatures as low as 27°F (-3°C).
