Dendrocalamus Brandisii
I am among the world's largest bamboos, native to India and Southeast Asia.
I can grow to 100 feet tall, although I will not reach this height unless in optimal tropical conditions. My thick-walled culms can reach 8 inches in diameter and are used extensively for construction and paper pulp.
My lower nodes are branchless, but often have pronounced aerial roots. My shoots are often harvested for the table. I love full sun and will tolerate temperatures as low as 28°F (-2°C).
