Bambusa Multiplex - Fernleaf
"Fernleaf Hedge Bamboo"
I am an excellent hedge bamboo, named for the ten to twenty tiny leaves per twig that distinguish my cultivar from the species type. One must not confuse me with the finer leafed Bambusa multiplex rivieroerum.
When grown rather dry in a pot, my leaves are only about 1/4" x 1-1/2" and grow closely together in fern-like rows on a 12" high plant. If grown in the ground in rich moist soil, I will grow larger with more widely spaced leaves. Occasional reversions to the full size form must be pruned out or they will take over.
