Bambusa Membranaceus
Dendrocalamus Membranaceus
I have very smooth, hard, erect, thick walled and straight culms. I am considered to have superior smaller diameter timber, and my branches make good pins used in bamboo joinery. I will make an excellent 60 foot wall in 5 years. My leaves are smaller than many Dendrocalamus species. My young culms are covered with white powder, giving them a unusual glowing blue-white appearance in the garden, and my mature culms are medium green. I am excellent for a wind break and I will tolerate some salt spray near the coast.
Considered rare, I have 4" diameter thin-walled green canes, green leaves, and come from Burma and Thailand where I am grown for construction, basketry & edible shoots.
