Bambusa Chungii
"Tropical Blue Bamboo"

I am considered by many of my admirers to be without doubt - the best looking bamboo there is. A fine white wax that covers my culms gives me an irridescent blue apperance that is beautiful. In addition, my cold tolerance is such that I will not loose my leaves or color in winter in most areas of Southern California. Also since I grow in a clump, I will not spread as do other types of bamboo.

I grow well in Southern California in all areas that do not get below 15F in the winter, below that temperarure will kill me. I should be well watered once a week. I am not as large as some other bamboos, such as Bambusa oldhamii, as I only get to be about 30 feet tall.
