My culms are golden with random green stripes of variable width. The golden color of my culms take on a magenta cast when exposed to bright sunlight. Like other forms of Bambusa multiplex, I am among the prettiest bamboos for interiors.

I can reach heights of 20 feet when planted in the ground, and 10-15 feet in a large container. My culms can reach 1 inch in diameter. My erect culms are ornamental, leaf-free for the bottom half & form dense clumps of slightly arching branches covered with leaves toward the top.

Dark green upper leaf surfaces, and waxy, bluish lower surfaces add to my ornamental appeal. Among the most attractive of bamboos, I am one of the best for growing in containers.
